New Beginnings

This are rolling along. I took my first load of stuff over to the new place last night, picked up my keys, paid another months rent (gah), and fell in love with my new apartment all over again. I purchased my mattress on Sunday at the Macy's sale and got an amazing deal. It will be delivered to the new abode tomorrow. I am still needing a bed frame, but that can wait, I am more concerned with just having a place to sleep.

I purchased dark burgundy sheets, duvet, and a beautiful duvet cover. ( I know I know, almost same color scheme as in college, BUT I think this one is a little classier!)

I've recruited the help of some awesome friends to help with some furniture on Sat. and the heavy boxes. Sunday I plan to unpack so I can officially get settled in to my new neighborhood. I still have a few things I need to pick up. It is downright cold now, so I am going to need to find an additional blanket for the bed, perhaps a second dresser and then a few small things.

I can't wait to post pictures!!

Work List

My favorite things about working other than the money:

  • Working with awesome people (my boss is pretty much the best)

  • Getting dressed up, I love an excuse to wear my work clothes

  • Feeling like a "grown-up"

  • Seeing the hours before 10 am
  • Happy hour.

Thanks for the list idea B.Smith!

New Abode

Today made it official. I put down the deposit for my new U-Street/DuPont apartment. I am going to be moving stuff in throughout the week hopefully, depending on work and then next weekend try to get to bulk of my stuff moved out. My roommate is really nice and I am excited to get to know her better and also adapt to my new surroundings.

I don't have pictures of the inside yet, but I do have a picture of the outside. My apartment is in the top left.

Big Changes

This begins the start of a new chapter.

So strange how you end up places you never thought you would and know that you have become a better person because of it. Highlighting the lessons of that life are unpredictable, imperfect, and beyond your wildest imagination.

I am sure where I go from here will be just as entertaining and fabulous as the last 23 years.

Book Review: The Time Traveler's Wife

This movie was one that I saw the preview for and was really excited to go see. After talking to people who had read the book I knew that is one of those movies that wasn't go to be nearly as good as the book and I should read the book before I saw the movie. Two weekends ago I picked up a copy at B&N and headed to my favorite coffee/pastry place in Alexandria right now called Buzz and snuggled into one of their comfy couches with a chai and blazed through the first quarter of the book. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of days that I can just sit around and read, so it took me until today to finish the book.

I must say...I loved it. Any book that causes me to tear up a bit is a goodie. Will say I had some difficulty knowing when and where the time traveler was, since the book is constantly switching between real time and time travel. But the story line was excellent and the ideas behind time travel are interesting and keep it from being a full on romance novel.

North Carolina

I am off today for North Carolina to visit Mallory for the weekend! I am so excited to see her! We have barely spent like a half an hour together in over a year which makes me so sad! So I am ready for a weekend with one of my best girl friends! (Did I mention she is one of my littles!!)

Enjoy your (hopefully) long weekends!!

A Little Humor about the Swine

Being in HR it seems like all I hear about right now is Swine Flu crisis plans. Well here is a little humor to lighten the mood...
